Job Description

The Account Manager serves as the primary source of contact with current and prospective customers, effectively managing their needs. Works closely with both multi-national and small to medium-sized customers. Requires engagement with the Customer Service and Customer Technical Service teams as well as other key marketing, planning, and operating functions.



Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Obtains purchase commitments from existing customers and increases the company's participation in their business; 
• Negotiates pricing commitments with customers on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis;
• Solicits prospective customers and develops their business in the best interests of the company while cultivating mutually constructive business relationships with industry professionals and associations;
• Facilitates sales and service activities across numerous entities within the Company while acting as the primary source of contact with customer base to ensure customer satisfaction and retention;
• Actively manages account base while seeking to optimize participation, profitability, forecasting, inventory management, and shipping performance; and
• Communicates market conditions, competitive intelligence, product development, and other key business drivers with the sompany's commercial stakeholders.



Qualifications

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, supply chain management or a closely related field
• At least five years of experience in a steel/metals industry or applicance manufacturing, within sales, customer service, procurement or closely related function
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of flat rolled products preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within North America
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with all levels of internal and external contact
• Solid presentation skills
• Ability to use and navigate common business software packages as well as proprietary sales and marketing platforms

Preferred Skills

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, supply chain management or a closely related field
• At least three years of experience in a steel/metals industry or automotive parts, systems or components industry, within sales, marketing, customer service, procurement or closely related function OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven track record developing new sales opportunities and closing negotiations preferred
• Knowledge of flat rolled products preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within North America
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with all levels of internal and external contact
• Solid presentation skills
• Ability to use and proficiently navigate common business software packages (Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel w/ pivot tables, PowerPoint), as well as proprietary sales and marketing platforms
