Job Description

The Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining equipment reliability through design and execution of effective programs to develop management strategies to manage risk and mitigate the consequences of failures. Thorough knowledge and effective application of condition monitoring is also required to identify early detection of pending failures. The reliability engineer also provides the necessary technical expertise to improve equipment reliability by evaluating and redesigning equipment and systems.


• Identify and implement pro-active reliability strategies that aim to create sustainable improvements in asset availability and productivity, while reducing total cost.
• Define the appropriate maintenance requirements to eliminate functional failures and their effects.
• Carry out investigations into failures to eliminate their root causes.
• Establish a systematic Preventative Maintenance review process with support from the maintenance planner to ensure the effectiveness of the Preventative Maintenance program.
• Support the work preparation process to ensure job plans are prepared and executed properly.
• Engage in the designing, planning, and execution of capital (and non-capital) projects.
• Track and analyze various key performance indicators and reliability metrics
• Consult managers, engineers, technicians, and data scientists to define the scope and objectives of data modeling projects
• Translate concepts and ideas into clearly defined quantitative models and process optimization objectives that capture both business and user requirements


• Must be self-driven and motivated to learn with minimal supervision
• Proficient in written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to adapt in order to thrive in a collaborative environment
• Experience with developing and implementing failure prevention strategies including precision maintenance (i.e. standard maintenance procedures, precision skills development, documentation, etc.) and preventive maintenance (i.e. lubrication, time based inspection/cleaning, etc.).
• Experience with developing and implementing failure detection strategies including vibration, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis, motor circuit analysis, etc.).
• Experience with proactive and reactive failure analysis methods
• Experience with industrial networking and controls (SCADA systems, machine logic software, etc.)
• Demonstrated quantitative analysis skills
• Experience in communicating and presenting data and technical concepts to audiences with varying backgrounds
• Bachelor’s degree in math/statistics and/or an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, or controls)
