The Furnace Maintenance Technician will perform furnace trouble shooting and maintenance including System Accuracy Testing, Temperature Uniformity Surveys and instrument calibration
Responsibilities
- Perform all essential job functions of a Maintenance Technician I
- Labeling and storage of waste material.
- Perform tests using a variety of equipment (oscilloscope, frequency generator, frequency counter, vacuum Helium leak detector, meters and multi-meters, etc.).
- Perform system accuracy testing, temperature uniformity surveys, and instrument calibration.
- Troubleshoot systems, including furnaces, by reviewing system drawings and conducting diagnostic tests.
- Diagnose and repair furnace controls including PLC’s, SCR’s, Vacuum gauge controller and Chart recorders.
- Repair and maintain vacuum systems to include mechanical pumps, roots blowers, diffusion pumps, control valves, seals and feedthroughs.
- Maintain and ensure safe operation of furnace gas systems.
- Install electrical conduit and wiring. Maintain proficiency with industrial electrical systems.
- Lead TPM teams to create preventative and predictive maintenance programs on equipment.
- Establish and follow Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules and procedures for equipment.
- Use mathematical formulas to solve for Area, Volume, Amperes, Ohms, Watts and other common maintenance related problems.
- Support all lean manufacturing and total productive maintenance (TPM) initiatives.
- General department housekeeping and support of 5-S+1 program.
- Regular attendance and punctuality.
- Adhere to and promote Corporate Code of Ethical Standards
- Ensures compliance with Company IPM/QPM and ISO-9000 quality requirements
- Repair of landscape irrigation systems.
- Painting equipment and facilities.
- Performing other tasks in the facility, as needed.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, circuitry
- Ability to interpret and work from blueprints and equipment manuals
- Minimum welding, plumbing and carpentry skills
- Ability to read, interpret and understand work in-process documents
- Understanding preventative maintenance systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability
- Lean skills continually drives process improvements
- Team building skills
- Must be fluent in English, i.e. speaking, reading, writing
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years experience in electronic control devices
- AA degree in electronics or related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience
